I was also able to isolate and fix the problem with the skin color overlay also overlaying teeth, eyelashes, and any accessories. That means there are an additional 17 skin colors available for you to put these skin color overlays on! Overall that is 1710 different skin shades! These are the 95 different skin tones on just 1 of the Sims 4 Skin Colors! I put a red square around the skin tone I used in the picture below. I have made 95 different skin color overlays for both adults and children! Credit goes to her for the idea of skin overlays, as it is not something I would have figured out on my own. I have not figured out how to make additional skins, but thanks to Ginny from ( MySimpleSimblr) I was able to figure out how to make skin overlays using the full face freckles slot. ![]() But at least I can use CC, so I have that way to actually make sims look the way I want.Hi guys! I’ve been working very hard on a project near and dear to my own heart (I was working on this all day yesterday which is why I didn’t post any additional items yesterday)! I LOVE playing with colorful sims, and I dearly miss my skin sliders from the Sims 3. I don't expect them to update it again though, so I guess we're stuck with this system now. I feel like I have both too much choice and too little at the same time, because there are so many terrible swatches that I would never use. I honestly don't even bother with the sliders because I forget it's there half the time, and there are just too many swatches to choose from, many looking super weird. I feel like the update didn't fix anything, just made finding the right skintone much more complicated and annoying. This meant that there were less light skintone options than medium and dark skintones, and that it could be hard to find the appropriate tone when factoring for paleness and appropriate racial undertones. Especially since before the skintone update (and after it, although the three categories make this more complicated) light-skinned Asian and European skintones were lumped together alternating between the two. My problem is, even if the issue was about colour, the lighter skintones were never that good to begin with. Either way, EA was told that there was an issue with the darker skintones, and so when they made the skintone update they focused on the darker skintones rather than all skintones, so the lighter skintones still have problems. Basically, the way they rendered the skin to optimise for performance created an issue where the quality showed pixel artefacts visible on the forehead of the sim, and while this was present on all skintones it was more evident on the darker tones because it was clearer to see than on lighter tones where it could be washed out by the lightness of the skintone.īecause players only saw these artefacts on the darker tones they complained about those in particular some for personal reasons in order to make themselves in the game, and others for political reasons because they decided to treat it as a race issue. It was made out to be that there was an issue with the darker skintones so outrage was formed and EA ended up fixing it in order to virtue signal, but the real issue was the quality of the textures, not the colour. The problem with the skintone update is that people made it a race issue when that was never the problem.
